Graduated from City University, London in 1979 with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in Material Science, Mechanics and Strength of Materials. Worked in Aerospace as a Senior Structural Engineer before joining a Defence Company specialising in Underwater Technology as Engineering Manager. Also worked as Chief Engineer in Marine Technology Design before setting up his own Company in 1997 to concentrate on Mechanical Design Projects.

Now Managing Director of Divergent Engineering Ltd, working as a Safety Consultant and Bid Manager. Worked mainly on aircraft components, military diving equipment and marine technology. Also worked for Ferrari, Lola and Williams Grand Prix Engineering on components for Formula One racing cars.

An amateur bobsleigh driver who has competed in the last five British Championships and has also driven many different types of racing car from karts to Formula One. Lapped Las Vegas Motor speedway at 169 mph in an Indianapolis type racing car and topped 182 mph on the straight. Other sporting interests include badminton, tennis, skiing and climbing mountains, having climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft) and also trekked to Everest Base Camp.
