Residents of Stoke St Mary have turned out in force to raise more than ?1,500 for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment campaign at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.
The village held a fun day with events ranging from bingo to a walking treasure hunt.
There was a f?te with entertainment, and village open gardens.
One of the organisers, Rebecca Pow, said: ?The whole community pulled together to achieve a highly successful and amusing two days, and the activities were enjoyed by hundreds of people.
?The fundraising was a mega achievement for a small village.
?Playing a key role was Christine Cann, who worked tirelessly to organise many of the fundraising events.
?We were delighted to hand over a cheque for ?1,518.58 to SURE.?
The cheque was handed over to SURE by Stoke St Mary?s very own village celebrity and resident bouncer at events, Lee Johnson, an Olympic bobsleigh veteran and Olympic bronze medal winner who is currently British bobsleigh champion.
Also this week, Mr and Mrs Rex donated ?155, and Mr and Mrs Moore sent in ?28.
That brings the total since the County Gazette joined the campaign to ?124,566.
SURE bingo is back at Monkton Heathfield village hall from tomorrow when Christine and John McCann start the new winter season at 7.30pm.
