Erdmann, who will have Nicole Herschmann on the brakes in the second Olympic Women's Bobsleigh race ever, led the final training heat with a 58.19. Erdmann had a 58.033 effort in the fifth training run.

"We don't stay in the Olympic Village," said Erdmann about the german preparation for the Games. "We have a little hotel just outside Cesana. It's better that way during the competition, It's better for the mind. There's no stress. After the competition, we will go the the village."

Kiriasis is the defending World Cup and World Champion pilot and is a definite podium favorite for the women's competition, which will be held over four heats on Monday, Feb. 20 and Tuesday, Feb. 21. Competition starts at 17:30 (5:30 pm) CET.

"The Olympic Games is a special competition," said Kiriasis after training. "The two United States sleds, Susi Erdmann (GER) and Gerda Weissensteiner (ITA) and me, I hope. Any of the top-six competitors can win."

Gerda Weissensteiner and Jennifer Isacco of Italy also turned in top training times, 58.38 and 58.37, which ranked third and second respectively.

Helen Upperton of Canada continued to demonstrate her medal potential. Upperton, who will use Heather Moyse on the brakes, had a pair of fourth place runs, 58.43 and 58.66.

There will be 16 starters from 10 nations in the women's competition.
