Jackie’s primary background was within Rugby Union; she played at both Regional and Divisional level and represented the Army. She also represented the army at Athletics in the100m and Triple jump. Jackie began Bobsleighing in Sept 2000 and was brakewoman for the Great Britain 3rd (GB3) team. She progressed quickly and was subsequently moved to GB2 that season. The team finished 1st in the British champs then 8th overall on World cup circuit.
Jackie was selected for GB 1 for the pre Olympic season 2001-2002 and then went on to push in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City Finishing in 11th place.
In the 2002/2003 season Jackie made the switch from the back to the front seat and was selected for the driver development programme she alternated between pushing and driving with Nicola Minichiello. They finished 11th and 12th In the Calgary World cup races equalling the start record and then 3rd in the Europa Cup in Winterberg breaking the track start record. Jackie finished 2nd in the British championships and 14th in The Igls World cup races in January before finishing 15th in World Championships that year. She also became army novice champion.
For the 2003/2004 season Jackie was selected as driver for GB2 finishing 2nd in the British camps and overall 13th on the world cup circuit. She then went on to win the inter-service championships.
Jackie returned to braking for the 2004/2005 season and was selected to join Nicola Minichiello as GB1 it was a very successful season! After winning the World push champs in Leipzig during the summer, the girls went on to finish a creditable 8th place overall on the world cup circuit with best finishes of 4th place in Winterberg, 4th place in Cortina and a 5th place in Igls. The most spectacular event was the World Championships in Calgary where the girls brought home a silver medal. This was the best championship result in bobsleigh in 40 years. Jackie is now preparing for the Olympic season and will join up with Nicola Minichiello once again.
