Formerly of Bishop Auckland, County Durham, father of three John Jackson, took up the sport of bobsleigh through the Royal Marines after being attracted by the speed, adrenaline and team work.

Having moved very quickly through the sport, John achieved many successes within his first seven weeks. His bobsleigh accolades Include: Army Novice Champion, Navy Novice Champion, and after his third week of driving came 5th in the British Championships. More recently, John came 9th place in the GB2 sled in the World Championships, St Moritz in February 2007.

John trains twice a day, 5 days a week and believes the secret to success is to combine this with eating as much as possible. His bobsleigh goal is to represent Great Britain at the Winter Olympics 2010 and 2014.
