Gillian Cooke has been selected to Team GB to compete alongside Nicola Minichiello in the women's bobsleigh. The Vancouver Games will be Cooke's first Olympic Winter Games.
Prior to becoming 2009 bobsleigh World Champion, Cooke was an extremely talented athlete, she had competed at a high level in pole vault, long jump, 60m sprint and 100m. However, after spotting a facebook advert she trialled out as breakman for Nicola Minichiello, and six months later they were World Champions.
As an athlete, Gillian competed in two Commonwealth Games in two different events - in pole vault in 2002, and then in the long jump four years later.
Her favourite film is The Shawshank Redemption.
