British Bobsleigh Championships 2008/09

Race Reports and Results from Cesana Pariol, Italy.
The 2008/2009 British Bobsleigh Championships were held at the challenging Cesana Pariol track in Italy, with the Women's and 2-Man races being held on 14th November, and with the 4-Man race being held on 15th November 2008.
The event was sponsored by 'The Times of My Life' and the 2-Man Competition saw athletes Dean Macey / Jason Gardner and Dan Luger / Craig Maclean compete against the GB Team and other 'regular' bobsleighers, having all learnt to drive a bobsleigh in a Bobschool held prior to the Championships.
The Cesana Pariol Olympia Track was built above the village of Pariol in 2004, for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. The start of the track is at an altitude of 1,683 metres and it drops 114 metres over the course of its 1,435 metre length and 19 bends.
The Women's Race was won by GB1 driver Nicola Minichiello who successfully retained her British Champion title.
Nicola was pushed by Gillian Cooke in her first run and Jackie Gunn in the second run, after Gillian picked up an injury, and also won the Best Push Start Award.
Second place was taken by Paula Walker / Kelly Thomas from Kerry Morgan / Shauna Vetch.
Results
The 2-Man Race saw Lee Johnston regain the British title from John Jackson, with Lee finishing 1.37 seconds ahead of second placed John Jackson. Lee Johnston was pushed by Dan Money and this pairing also won the Best Push Start Award.
Second placed John Jackson / Jamie Devlin finished just 0.17 seconds ahead of Martin Wright / Henry Nwume, to make it a 1-2-3 for the Royal Marines drivers Lee Johnston, John Jackson and Martin Wright.
The Novice Driver Award for the highest finishing driver (and brakeman) in his first British Championships went to athletes Dean Macey / Jason Gardener.
