Jackson plans to keep team together

John Jackson his hoping his new bobsleigh team can stay together and compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Jackson, brakeman Allyn Condon, Henry Nwume and Dan Money only came together as a unit at the British team's pre-Games holding camp in Park City, Utah earlier this month.
In their first competition together, GBR1 finished 17th at Whistler Sliding Centre on Saturday as the United States took gold to deny Germany's Andre Lange a third successive four-man Olympic title and prevent the two-man champion from a bobsleigh double.
Britain's four-man team rebounded from a crash in Friday's second heat to improve their position in both the third and fourth heats.
A third run of 52.24 seconds saw GBR1 jump from 21st place to 18th and Jackson improved again in the final heat with a 52.15 to move into 17th.
"We've moved up a couple of places today, we knew that we could," Jackson said.
"Obviously the crash on Friday was a minor blemish and we knew that we could at least pick off the places that we have done.
"The people that were further ahead were just that little bit too far." Jackson was also pleased with the way the British quartet had formed as a unit in a short period of time.
"We've gelled from the off. We've been together for the last four seasons in an around each other so we know each other well and as a team it just clicked into place straight away from when we were in Park City just before we got to the Olympics."
A top-10 finish would have helped the British four-man team get funding for next season but Jackson was still optimistic.
"We were hoping after the first run yesterday when we were in 11th, that we could have got into the top 10 and stayed there. That would have been good for funding.
"Obviously we've slipped back and today was more about getting a second run.
"We'll just see what happens. I'm looking to go to Sochi and hopefully these guys will be there with me too."
