Morning training for the 2-man doubled as sled testing for Lee, the Hilti sled against the Riech. Nicola concentrated on driving the Riech with Jackie while Jenny filmed the action.

Jackie set Nicola the goal of a clean exit from the Gunter Sax corner, and promised her a treat if she achieved it. When the training goal was achieved Nicola looked forward to her "treat" and was somewhat disgruntled that a piece of fruit was all that transpired. The scores appear to be even for now.

Dan and Lee produced starts that were faster then their World Cup starts The graphs that Tom produced showed the drivers some interesting information but he test was inconclusive, so there will be another session tomorrow.

Karl meanwhile volunteered to help out Swiss driver Martin Galliker as he was a crewman down and wanted to slide to test some new equipment. Bobsleigh is a real friendly sport and Karl was keen to help out, knowing also that the favour would be returned in the future. And anyway he felt he couldn't miss the opportunity of some great over-speed push training as he needed Karl to go on the back of his 4-man. (Karl didn't tell him until after the first run was that he had never actually pushed off the back of a 4-Man before!) Luckily all the runs went well and when Martin began a discussion with Karl about how his driving was compared to Lee's Karl beat a hasty retreat!

Then the whole group did a sprint session on the snow at the bottom of the track. It is rare treat for the whole team; men and women - to train together and the athletes made the most of it, with the usual banter and tangible sense of identity.

Other news - Tom's ankle is still sore and General Manager Jo Manning fell over and hurt herself. Gordon has managed to put her back together though so no major problems. In fact he has apparently introduced her to some mobility that she had never before experienced.

In fact Gordon has been kept very busy with much cracking of backs and massaging of legs which has been immensely appreciated by the athletes, although his instruction for the athletes to take an ice-bath met with a mixed reception.

No day would be complete without an hour or two spent working on the sleds. Karl and Martin assisted Tom who was adjusting and re-adjusting steering mechanisms and aligning the sleds ready for another early start tomorrow.

Lee Johnston has been nominated by the Team to carry the flag into the opening ceremony and we now await the outcome of the team's submission.

The athletes are in very good spirits and the mood in the camp is excellent.
