At the sharp end of the day the 4-man sled had its first run down the hill since the end of the season.

Even though Karl was not feeling well, the runs on the 4-man were clean and smooth. The important thing for today was to get the new combination loading together.

Nicola was also sliding and today was testing in the new ?Hilti? sled. It?s handling was quite different leading to an interesting first lauf for Jenny who was braking and described herself as ?crash test dummy? for the day! The second lauf was smoother and Nicola is looking forward to another shot at it tomorrow.

Straight after sliding the girls went to their improvised running track for a session that Nicola rated as ?awesome?. Things are going well and they are feeling very fast. One imagines that teams from the other leading nations will all be trying to peak at the same time ? it?s going to be an interesting two weeks.

Then in the afternoon the Team went curling. The athletes weren?t keen to begin with, but before very long they had suspended their disbelief and were exuding team spirit and competitiveness (especially Nicola who was blocking people like a professional).

Nicola, Pete Gunn and Shiner were victorious over Lee, Dean and Jo in the final, with Nic christening Shiner ?the male Rhona Martin?.

Supper involved an evening excursion up the mountain to a restaurant at the top. Reports are that the food was fantastic and the views spectacular, with the athletes appreciative of the chance for a change of scene and menu.

Tomorrow sees an important day for the boys with a visit from the Royal Marines and decision-time for the girl?s over their choice of sled.
