Even though it was traveling day, the girls wanted to put in another couple of runs to really get the feel of the Hilti sled. Nicola was very fast on both laufs, clocking her fastest speeds of the year at 135.5kmh. This was faster than the Canadian no1 Helen Upperton whom she comprehensively out-drove on both runs.
After making a quick exit and throwing the last bits of luggage in the van the Team departed for Turin.
Under threat of libel court action we are unable to report that Lee messed up again today when he thought he had lost his wallet and drove back to the hotel, only to remember as he was searching his room, that he had put the wallet in the door pocket of the Van.
The convoy quickly dispersed as Tom's rally driving skills across the Italian country had the better of both Lee and Pete. After only a few wrong turns they arrived at the Torino village to decant onto the transport for Sestriere.
The next journey was much more efficient with a police escort that almost cut the journey in half, and the Team settled in to their new home, with Nic "hogging all the wardrobes"
The girls had "a fantastic chat"with Marcus: he is the brunt of much Team banter yet he has a wealth of knowledge. He has competed on a world stage so many times and has been an inspiring influence on Jackie and Nicola. The girls are feeling confident that they done what was required of them for this chance and now they believe they also have the courage to see it through. The journey to Turin was used to reflect on things and to visualise the performance they wanted to give on the track.
The support team however had another problem when the van they were driving developed tyre problems and they had to get to a garage. They then spent over 3 hours getting to the airport which was no more then 20 minutes away, resulting in Jenny missing her flight and a very late arrival in Sestriere.
Tom is sharing a 3 man room with Bos and Pete so he doesn't expect much sleep tonight.
Sliding for the men starts tomorrow at 1930 followed by 0930 on Thursday.
